Welcome to our website! As we have the ability to list over one million items on our website (our selection changes all of the time), it is not feasible for a company our size to record and playback the descriptions on every item on our website. However, if you are an American with a disability we are here to help you. Please call our disability services phone line at (765) 286-5494 during regular business hours and one of our kind and friendly personal shoppers will help you navigate through our website, help conduct advanced searches, help you choose the item you are looking for with the specifications you are seeking, read you the specifications of any item and consult with you about the products themselves. There is no charge for the help of this personal shopper for any American with a disability. Finally, your personal shopper will explain our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, and help you place an order if you so desire.

Buying a mattress can be a very confusing process. With so many stores to choose from, and each store carrying 30 or more models, how do you make sure you are choosing the right one? We at Walls Furniture & Mattress would like to try to help make this process just a little simpler. We even offer a "Walls Wake Up Happy Comfort Guarantee"!

Store Reputation

To find a durable mattress that will last a long time, you'll want to purchase it from a durable business that has been around a long time. We recommend looking in to the reputation of the store you plan to visit, including ours! This can be done through the Better Business Bureau or online reviews such as Google, Yelp, and Yellowpages.com. Here at Walls Furniture & Mattress we are very proud of our reputation. If you would like to view some of our favorite reviews, please check out our Testimonials Page.

Mattress Research

It is also a good idea to research the specific brands that interest you. At Walls Furniture & Mattress, we offer Bowles Mattress, Sealy, and Tempur-pedic. All three have superb quality and the Bowles Mattress is American made! After doing a little research of your own you will probably find that spending more doesn't always guarantee a longer lasting comfort! While cheap mattresses should only be considered for short term situations.

Sleep Test

What should I tell the salesperson when I come in?

Our salespeople are here to match you with the perfect mattress for how you sleep and what comfort you like. Be ready to tell your salesperson what type of comfort you are looking for and in what position you sleep. For example, someone who sleeps on their side would want to look for a mattress that eliminates pressure points like a pillow-top or perhaps a memory foam mattress. Someone who sleeps on their stomach would want to look for a firmer option like a tight-top or plush-top that doesn't allow their midsection to sink as much.

Based on this information, our knowledgeable salesperson will be able to quickly eliminate the mattresses that do not fit your sleep style, and focus only on those mattresses that will best suit your needs! You can trust our salespeople to take the confusion out of the search.

What are the best ways to test a mattress before making my purchase?

When trying out a mattress be sure to lay with your entire body on the mattress, and in your preferred sleep position. Couples should always try the mattress together. We recommend wearing loose clothing that will allow you to really feel the comfort and support of the mattress. Stay on the mattress for 5-15 minutes or as long as you need to evaluate four things:

  • Body Alignment
  • Support
  • Comfort
  • Pressure Relief

While it is difficult to simulate the sleep experience you have in your own home, it is still an efficient way to test out the feel of the mattress.

If I sleep with a pillow, can I bring it with me to the store?

Absolutely! In fact, we recommend it! If you have a pillow that you really love, you might want to bring it as well to give you a more complete image of what your sleep experience would be on that mattress. If you don't bring a pillow, feel free to ask our salesperson for a pillow that suits how you sleep.

I've looked and tried out several mattresses, but I can't decide between 2-3!

If you find you can't decide between 2-3 different mattress models, make sure to evaluate each one equally for the four important qualities mentioned above:

  • Body Alignment
  • Support
  • Comfort
  • Pressure Relief

Each mattress may have different support systems, different densities of foam and even different types of foam. These are important factors in determining how long your mattress will remain comfortable (mattresses do need to "break in", see next question for details). The different mattress features are also the best way to determine if a more expensive mattress is really worth the extra money. A higher priced mattress does not necessarily mean a better nights sleep.

Do mattresses need to "break in" and how long does it take?

Yes, mattresses do break in as the new matterials settle and conform to the shapes and curves of your body. This can take anywhere from a month to a year, depending on the mattress. If you find your mattress has altered more than you expected, just stop by one of our Friendly Stores and we'll do our best ot make it right!

Is it normal for my mattress to get body impressions?

Yes. Many of today's top-quality mattresses use extra-plush foams and fibers to create comfort layers designed to cradle your body and relieve pressure. The first few weeks you sleep on a new mattress with extra comfort layers, you will likely notice some body impressions on the surface. These impressions are normal and indicate that the comfort layers are conforming to your body, as they are supposed to do. This should not be considered a sign that something is wrong with your new mattress.

How can I clean my mattress?

Unfortunately, the only recommended way to clean a mattress is by vacuuming. We recommend topping your mattress with a quality, washable mattress pad that will help keep your mattress free from stains.

One Final Reminder

Once you've made your selection you might still have some reservations. Don't worry, it's normal. Sleep is important and mattresses can be an expensive purchase. But as long as you've followed these guidelines you are far more likely to be satisified. By eliminating what you don't want in your shopping experience, you have taken the right steps to ensure that if you do have an issue it will be handled in a professional manner. Remember that a store is nothing without happy customers, which is why your satisfaction is so important to us! We can't wait to see you!
